Founded in 2019, the Chattahoochee Grippers are a composite middle / high school mountain bike team that participates in the Georgia Cycling Association. The Grippers offer private, public, and homeschool student-athletes in 6th-12th grade an opportunity to be part of a mountain biking team. The association provides options for riders to compete in a series of races or ride as adventure (non-racer) riders.
The Chattahoochee Grippers team serves student-athletes residing in Coweta, Southwest Fulton, Meriwether, and Carroll counties.
All team communication is handled through our TeamSnap app. Once registered with the team, the team director or head coach will send an invite through email for the application. Once the app is downloaded onto your phone, it's a one-stop location for all team communication, schedule of events, practice plans, and more.
CHATTAHOOCHEE GRIPPERS LEAD COACHES:
Chad Buckner Head Coach
Helmet with safety rating certified for mountain biking that fits your head snuggly but comfortably. The helmet should be free of dents, cracks, or defects. We recommend helmets be replaced every two years.
Closed-toed athletic shoes or mountain bike specific shoes
Clothing appropriate for the weather (warm layers and a rain jacket if necessary, or light breathable clothing for when it gets hot)
Geared mountain bike with knobby tires of at least 26-inch tires
A tube that fits your tire, tire levers, and a mini pump. A quick link that fits your chain is also a good idea.
Unlike other youth sports programs, parents who want to participate and ride along with the team at practices are welcome to join the team as coaches. In 2020 the Chattahoochee Grippers had 22 registered coaches to facilitate our multi-group practice plans. A typical practice ride with the Grippers consists of multiple groups based on ability with each group requiring lead and sweep coaches. For more information on coaching, please see our Coaches Page or Contact Us for more information.
